| Description: |
The first version of an API-based shopping comparison site - it should clone standard features of existing comparison shopping sites such as: - pricerunner.com - shopping.com - shopping.yahoo.com - shopping.msn.com - shopzilla.com
The standard features for v1: - Search for products - Browse product categories - Filter search and browsing results - Display selected product (name, picture, description, detailed specs, ratings, reviews etc) as well as list of merchant offers - Sort merchant list by price, merchants and merchant ratings - Enter zip code and re-calculate prices - Add/remove and view products in a product comparison grid - header/footer with logo, about, privacy/tos, sitemap etc.
Who should bid: Developers who have already written API-based shopping comparison sites using the API of a major vendor such as shopzilla.com, shopping.com etc. - i.e. you and your team *must* have already done this before. Your bid should demonstrate this by including one or more links to working examples of your code.
Other requirements: - Linux or OpenSolaris - search engine friendly - No java, jsp, .Net or .asp - MySQL - Web 2.0 look & feel: lots of white space, friendly, clean & uncluttered, drag and drop is cool. GOOD = shopzilla.com, zoho.com & google.com; UGLY = shopping.yahoo.com, shopping.msn.com; please don't bid if you aren't good at look and feel.
Preferences: - Expandable and well-designed architecture, user-friendly URLs, etc - yes, an MVC framework or other CMS is welcome - valid XHTML per http://validator.w3.org/ - support for IE6 as well as Firefox and IE7
As mentioned, this is just for the first version: there are more interesting & complex features planned for subsequent versions. If you do a good job on v1 and can show me that the site's architecture will support the features of v2, v3 (which we'll discuss), then obviously you should also get the subsequent work.
Please ensure that your bid includes URLs of your work and reflects the fact that you are NOT being asked to re-invent the wheel.
